Super Region Camp and 3x3 Success
The 7th and 8th August proved to be an eventful weekend for our players as Leeds hosted the Ball Out 3x3 qualifiers and 3 of our players went to the Super Region Camp in at the National Basketball Performance Centre in Manchester.
To begin, the Saturday saw teams made up of our u18 and u16 players take on strong opposition from across the region in a national 3x3 qualifier hosted by Ball Out . In total 2 u18 women’s, 1 under 18s men and an u16 boys team flew the LDM banners, with ‘Team Coach Norman (u18 men) and LDM1 (u18 women) successfully qualifying for the finals taking place in London on 14th August. A massive well done to the players who are sure to be proud of their success and can look forward to a trip to the capital over the weekend!
Sunday saw 3 players take part in the Basketball England U16 Super Region Camps at the National Performance Centre, Manchester. Parfait Luamba, Kevin Jonathan Osadebamwen and Olga Deumeni Torres, became the first LDM players to attend regional trials after impressing at the Leeds try outs for 2006/2007 born players in July. Although they did not make it to the National Super Camp, they did themselves proud and put in strong performances to showcase that they belong amongst the strongest players in the region for their age group. With national league competition just around the corner, the players once again will have a chance to prove themselves and continue the excellent progress they have made so far.
