Community Sessions

Find out what Leeds LDM Basketball deliver in Schools and the Community

“The basketball court for me, during a game, is the most peaceful place I can imagine. On the basketball court, I worry about nothing. When I’m out there, no one can bother me...”
— Michael Jordan

LDM Community Basketball Programme

We’d love you to join us at one of our community sessions; basketball is fun and easy to start – you just need to register (see below), turn up & we will make you feel at home. Your first session is free.

We have experienced coaches who not only teach you the skills you need, they also make sure you get the support you need to do well and have fun.

If you feel a bit anxious about joining us let us know & we will meet you before to make it as easy as possible; otherwise you can register below & join us.

We also have girls only sessions, visit our Shehoops page to find out more about them.

The benefits:

  • Have fun & meet new people

  • Get active – it helps you stay physically and mentally well

  • Learn new skills – co-ordination, decision making, managing stress, & more

& if you love it you can train for a team.

If you have any questions please contact our Youth Wellbeing Officer via kathryn.hodgson@letsdomore.org.uk

Why Basketball?

With buzzer beating three pointers, fast paced end-to-end action and a family friendly atmosphere, few sports can capture the imagination like basketball.

Basketball’s ease of access has made it the sport of choice for many young people across the country. It is the second most popular sport in the world, behind football, whist the Department of Culture, Media and Sport highlight basketball as the second most played sport in the UK for 11 to 15 year olds.

Over a third of basketball players in the UK are from Black and Minority Ethnic backgrounds, which is a higher participation rate than average, and it is the inclusive and diverse nature of the sport which encourages community cohesion in areas where barriers to regular exercise can be numerous.

If you are interested in getting us in for your school or community group, get in touch using the contact form, or info@letsdomore.org.uk
