LDM Basketball Academy
Our 16-19 basketball academy is run in partnership with Leeds City College, and gives dedicated basketball players the opportunity to continue playing the sport alongside their studies. This great opportunity enables student-athletes to take part in three court side training sessions per week alongside their academic studies, with various exit routes available to committed players including pathways to professional clubs, international college programmes or UK universities. In addition to studies and training, players can also expect:
Wednesday afternoon games competing in the College Basketball League (CBL), Assosiation of Colleagues (AoC) league and national cup competition.
Weekly strength and condition training in partnership with The Strength Box
Weekly physio and injury prevention support
Video analysis, including game recording and video highlights
Opportunities to gain Basketball England recognised coaching and refereeing qualifications
Opportunity to play National League with Leeds LDM U18s Premier & Division Three Men
Head Coach
Norman Francis
Leeds born Norman Francis has over 35 years coaching experience across various groups. A former professional player and level 3 basketball coach, Coach Francis puts an emphasis on developing players both on and off the court. He has a proven track record of getting the best out of the players he works with, whilst his passion and dedication to the game has seen him become one of the most respected basketball figures in the city.
Basketball England Level 3 Coach
Over 35 years experience coaching at a National League Level
Former Professional player with various clubs including Ellesmere Port, Teesside Mohawks and Manchester Giants
Played College basketball in the USA at Gardner Webb, North Carolina
Qualified youth mentor
Leeds City College & Leeds Sixth form college
