Mandela Courts Refurbished!
After battling delays and poor weather conditions, the outdoor courts at the Mandela Centre, Chapeltown have finally been redecorated. In partnership with Basketball England’s ‘Project Swish’ campaign and Leeds City Council, the courts were completed in time for our summer Healthy Holiday basketball sessions in Chapeltown.
The project signifies our intent to improve the quality of basketball in Leeds, as the courts received their first make over in over 30 years! The court now sits as one of the few in the city to have marked lines and nets, whilst they provide a stark reminder of the need for a wholesale revamp of our facilities citywide.
This work could not have been completed had it not been for the fantastic efforts of our volunteers and generous donations to our Go Fund Me page. As we admire the great work which has been completed in Chapeltown, we now shift our focus towards South Leeds, where we hope to utilise the huge space available at Cross Flatts Park, Beeston, which host one of the largest basketball courts in the country. There is plenty of work left to do!
