Our Future Focus: LDM’s Three Core Priorities

At Let's Do More (LDM), we believe in a future where basketball is a gateway to opportunities, growth, and success for all. As we move forward, our focus is clear—we are committed to three core priorities that will shape our impact and drive our vision.

1. Trauma-Informed Basketball Provision
We will lead the way in trauma-informed basketball, ensuring our programs provide safe, structured, and supportive environments tailored to the needs of young people who have faced adversity. By embedding trauma-informed practices, we will remove barriers that may prevent participation and create spaces where young people can heal, grow, and develop—both on and off the court.

Our approach will include small group and one-on-one pre-session interventions to help young people build trust, develop confidence, and prepare for engagement in a team sport environment. Coaches will be trained in trauma-informed practices, ensuring they can support participants effectively by recognising signs of trauma and responding in a way that fosters emotional resilience and positive social interactions.

2. Creating Opportunities and Developing Leaders
Basketball is more than a sport—it will be a platform for personal and professional development. Through our structured programs, we will create pathways for young people to gain skills, qualifications, and real-world experience that will empower them to thrive both in sport and beyond.

We will provide opportunities for young people to progress into roles such as coaching, officiating, and leadership, equipping them with recognised qualifications and hands-on experience. Our leadership programs will focus on developing key employability skills, including communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and decision-making, ensuring participants are prepared for future career and education opportunities.

To further expand these opportunities, we will work in collaboration with businesses and industry leaders to provide young people with networking opportunities, mentorship, and career insights. By engaging with employers across different sectors, we will connect participants to real-world work experiences, workshops, and guest speaker sessions, helping them build professional relationships and develop an understanding of various career pathways.

3. Maximising Opportunities to Play Basketball
Access to basketball should not be limited by background or circumstance. We will expand our programs to ensure that more young people, regardless of their background, have the opportunity to play, progress, and achieve their goals in a supportive and accessible environment.

By working in collaboration with schools, youth services, and community organisations, we will ensure that basketball remains an accessible, inclusive, and high-quality experience for all young people, giving them the chance to develop their skills, confidence, and passion for the game while having clear progression routes based on their ambitions and abilities.

Through these priorities, we are working towards our vision: a future where basketball is a gateway to opportunities, growth, and success for all.

We’re excited for the journey ahead and welcome anyone who shares our vision to connect, support, or collaborate with us.
